Beach houses stand on pilings, so the laundry is upstairs and the vent runs down through the ground-floor enclosure and out beneath the living floor, where the low section collects lint and the hood sits a foot off the sand in ocean air. A dryer breathing through that run heat-cycles, blows its fuse and takes two passes per load while nothing inside it is actually broken. The walk-through measures the loss and clears the run, and the house file says plainly when an enclosure section needs a duct crew rather than another heater; replacing the fuse alone books a return visit.
The machine itself corrodes too.
